Project in W5

Work Description

The loft was converted with the use of light gauge steel frame and turned into an open plan kitchen living area. Reclaimed pine was used on the flooring, including the 3 storey staircase, in all the common areas. An additional master bedroom and ensuite was created and a study added.

Structural glass installed in the floors created a new light well.

A very impressive conversion and reconfiguration of a formerly unremarkable 1 bedroom flat into a 3 bedroom one with exceptional living space.

Client Reference

In September 2012 I bought a 1 bedroom flat with a large loft in a converted house in Ealing. Despite the weather

(it was snowing during winter that year) , David’s team, at my request, started the project. The flat was intended for re-sale and I didn’t want to wastetime.

What they produced for me, “in this area you have set a precedent”, the manager of Foxtons Tom W commented (the flat achieved the highest price in the area for its size on record), was truly fantastic. I made the final decisions myself, but I had the benefit of their experience and very helpful advice on design and choice of materials. Ecological Auro paint, reclaimed pine;  use of glass panels in the floors throughout the flat’s three levels createdadditional light, when you walk through the ground floor front door you can now look up and see the sky; exposed brickwork in the loft and the exposed steel structure gives a unique feeling to the newly created space. I love the choice of kitchen and overall materials specification suggested byDavid (including the installation of solar panels on the roof).

Not only were the results achieved second to none, the experience was a good one. The team without exception were friendly and polite and theirattention to detail was pleasing and refreshing, pointing things out that I’d missed.

The works were completed on budget and schedule so I feel confident to use David Brace’s services again in my planned new project to build twosemi-detached houses.

Yours sincerely, AM
